Halogen Light
A halogen lamp is an incandescent lamp in which a tungsten filament is sealed into a compact transparent envelope filled with an inert gas, plus a small amount of halogen such as iodine or bromine. This effectively reduces the rate of the tungsten evaporation which, in turn, allows the lamp to operate at higher temperatures as well as increasing its life.
At a slightly longer life of 3000 hours in comparison to the incandescent lamps, the halogen lamp is an equally inefficient source of light at 14 lumens/watt and produces a similar impact on the environment as the incandescent bulb.
